MARIE GEORGE BURIED TUESDAY Mrs. Maria George nee Gaenzle, an esteemed resident of this vicinity, died Sunday morning at 2 o'clock, after several years of more or less ill health. She was 86 years, 5 months, 15 days of age. Maria Gaenzle was born at Gros-Hebesthal, Russia, on November 14, 1847. At 15 she was confirmed in the Christian faith which during her many years of hardship grew into an inconquerable [sic], living hope upon which solid spritual rock she rested to the end. In 1870 she was united in sacred wedlock with Mr. Henry George, who was her cherished life companion until 1922 at which time he departed this life. After a period of successful farming in Russia the Georges determined to settle in America. They arrived in Aurora, Nebraska in 1885 and the following year settled in Cheyenne County, Kansas. Here after a term of ten years their modest fortune was consumed by drouth [sic] and hot winds. Returning to Aurora they eventually settled in Sherman County, Nebraska, where they established their permanent residence. Seven children were born into their home. One son, Henry, was called from this life at the age of 19. Three sons and three daughters mourn her departure. They are: Mrs. Mike Nickolaus, Mrs. A. L. Enderle, Mr. John George, Mrs. C. H. Biehl, who resides at Beaver Creek, Oregon, Mr. Wm. George, and Mr. Gus George. All these and their families except Mrs. Biehl, reside in this vicinity. There are 32 grand children and 13 great grand children. Mrs. George's Christian faith and eternal hope grew stronger and stronger as the storms of life increased. She loved to be in the House of the Lord. Even when her health scarcely permitted it she occasionally attended her beloved Church and praise the Lord in divine services. She did not view death as any thing other than the gateway into much greater spiritual life. What a sustaining inspiration is such a life as hers, very hard and much troubled but infinitely beautiful in its faith, and hope. Physically weary but spiritually stalwart and full of years she welcomed death at an early hour Sunday morning. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon May 1 at 2 o'clock from the Beushausen Funeral Chapel and at 2:30 from the Methodist church. Rev. Carl Burke of the St. Paul's Evangelical church and Rev. Thos. Marshall of Seward officiating. a quartet composed of Mr. A. J. Johnson, Mr. Lawrence Smith, Mrs. Domgard and Mrs. Jewett, accompanied by Mrs. Burkle rendered three favorite hymns of the deceased. The interment was made in Evergreen cemetery. Those attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. R. G. George, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. George, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Nickolaus, Mrs. George Frye, Mr. John George, Mr. and Mrs. John George Sr. and daughter Mata [sic], Mr. and Mrs. M.
