She had lived a good... Read More	Stratford Courier February 26, 1925 MRS. J.F. LINDQUIST, PIONEER OF THIS SECTION, DIED THURSDAY Mrs. John F. Lindquist passed away about 8 o'clock Thursday morning of last week after a lingering illness of many months the last few weeks of which she failed very rapidly. The passing of this good Christian woman marks the passing of another of our early pioneer settlers, one who came here with her family and who worked and labored for them through the days and the years many times in the face of real suffering and privation. She had lived a good life and she won her race in the upbringing of a large family of useful and upright citizens. She had reached the ripe old age of 80 years and 9 months on the day of passing. Obituary Mary Sundell was born in Ivarneborg [Mistelås], Kronobergs län, Sweden, May 20, 1844. She came to America in 1869 and located in Moline, Ills. She was married there to John F. Lindquist on September 17, 1870 and after they had lived in that city for ten years they moved onto a farm a short distance west of Stanhope. They resided on this farm until thirteen years ago when they moved into Stratford residing in this place until the time of her death. Mrs. Lindquist was the mother of nine children, two of whom had preceded her in death. Those who are left to mourn, beside the aged husband and father are: Mrs. Emma Carlson, Mrs. Mathilda Iverson, and Fred all of Stanhope. Mrs. Axel Olson and Misses Nora and Hilma, all of Stratford, Mrs. Minnie Metcalf of Reeder, N.D. She also leaves nineteen grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Christine Melin of Moline, Ills., and Miss Emma Sundell of Sweden, and hosts of relatives and friends, who mourn the loss of a true, loving and ever ready helping friend. She was baptized in infancy and when a young girl was confirmed in the Lutheran church and throughout her life she remained a faithful and earnest worker in the church. She never hesitated to sacrifice either time or strength in doing kind deeds for anyone in need and she has truly left a rich heritage to her family of shinning courage and a true Christian spirit. The funeral services was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. C.A. Callerstrom of Ogden officiating. Burial took place in the South Marion cemetery.
