Marie Lillian was born August 30, 1917 in Davison County, South Dakota to Edwin and Anna (Petersen) Siegling. Marie grew up near Burdette, South Dakota (north of Wessington). Read More	Marie Hargens, 100, Miller, South Dakota, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller. Marie Lillian was born August 30, 1917 in Davison County, South Dakota to Edwin and Anna (Petersen) Siegling. Marie grew up near Burdette, South Dakota (north of Wessington). She graduated in 1936 from St. Lawrence High School and completed teachers’ training at Wessington Springs College. She taught all eight grades in several country schools. She married Max Hargens, son of John and Theresa (Dreier) Hargens, June 5, 1940. They were the parents of two children, Arlyne and Maurice. Marie was active in the Miller Community as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hand County Extension Club, and Garden Club where she served in various volunteer positions. As a farm wife, she raised chickens and geese, canned fruits, meats, and vegetables from her garden and prepared/cooked the pheasants Max brought home in the fall. Survivors include her children: Arlyne (Tom) Moran and Maurice (Ramonda “Tootie”) Hargens; grandsons: Allan (Heather) Olson and Barry (Evelyn) Hargens; granddaughters: Tara (Matt) Schotte, Nicole Finne, and Janell Olson; great grandsons: Phillip Schotte, Sawyer Olson, Nelson Finne, Parker Hargens, Carter Olson, and Heath Hargens; great granddaughters: Kaitlyn Schotte and Hannah Finne; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; sisters: Helen (Edward) Labor and Elizabeth (Alvin) Haberling; former son-in-law, Jerry Olson; and nephew, Larry Hancock. Funeral: Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller, SD. Officiating: Rev. Max Miller. Burial: G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller.
