She departed this life December 31, 1928, at her home in Minburn, Iowa at the age of 88 years and 30 days. She was married to Carl Gottschalk in Germany in 1865. To this union were born nine children. Those surviving are Bennett of perry, Rhiness of Minnesota, Steven, Otto, Paul and Martha of this place; Mrs. Mary Whitlock and Mrs. Bertha Phillips of Perry. To this union were born nine children. Those surviving are Bennett of perry, Rhiness of Minnesota, Steven, Otto, Paul and Martha of this place; Mrs. Mary Whitlock and Mrs. Bertha Phillips of Perry. Mrs. Gottschalk was confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of fourteen years to which faith she remained true and loyal until her death. Mr. and Mrs. Gottschalk came to the United States in the year 1870 with their two eldest sons and lived in Wisconsin for a couple of years after which they came to Dallas county and located on a farm four miles east of town. Thus she lived in and near this place for fifty-six years.
