McFadden, 88, a sixty-nine year resident of the Lake Chelan Valley and prominent businessman, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born February 8, 1916, near Ralston, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Arthur and Bertha (Morley) McFadden. He attended schools there and graduated from Ralston High School in 1935. Read More	MARION F. McFADDEN - Tuesday - May 25, 2004 Chelan - Marion F. McFadden, 88, a sixty-nine year resident of the Lake Chelan Valley and prominent businessman, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born February 8, 1916, near Ralston, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Arthur and Bertha (Morley) McFadden. He attended schools there and graduated from Ralston High School in 1935. On May 24, 1935, the family arrived in Manson. He was employed with the U.S. Forest Service in the summers and in the orchards in the fall. He also was employed with a local apple drying operation and the Mundt Market. On June 14, 1941, he was married to Margaret Louise Thrash at Chelan. He purchased his first orchard in 1941, and also served as manager of Manson Growers for five years. He served on Trout, Inc. Board of Directors. Later, he was employed with the Washington Apple Commission for two years in the later 1940's promoting Washington Apples in California markets. He sold his orchard soon after purchasing the Harlan Faris Tire Co. in 1961. He and his late brother, Ken, later added branches in Brewster and Omak. The retail part of the business was sold in 1991, and he is still operating it as business investment managements. He also owns McFadden Building Supply, Inc., which was incorporated in 1968, and still operates it as a business investment management. Mr. McFadden was also involved in bringing television to the Lake Chelan Valley. He, along with Fred Milburn, Ralph Overbay, Lee Smith and Dick Courtway, got a bank loan and established Manson Community T.V. in 1954- First on the back side of Bear Mountain and later to its present location on Slide Ridge. He was active in politics- serving two years with the Chelan County Republican Central Committee and as a deputy Chelan County Treasurer for two years. He was also in the appliance business for many years, having opened the Enter-Prize Mart in 1964, in the building that now houses Miller Auto Sales. Goodyear was in the appliance business in those days and so McFadden decided to go into it too. He ran it for eight or nine years and then sold it to Bob Linn. McFadden was a lifetime member of Chelan Valley Lodge #118 F. & A.M. He was a Past Master of the lodge and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a life member and past patron of Silver Star Chapter 93, O.E.S., life member of the Scottish Rite Masonry of Wenatchee, a member of the El Katif Shrine of Spokane, a member and past president of the Lake Chelan Shrine Club, a member and past president of Manson Kiwanis. He has also served on the Chelan County Development Council, Chelan County Planning Commission, Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board, the Manson Community Hall Board, and the Manson Apple Blossom Festival Chairman. He was also a thirty-year member of Chelan Eagles Aerie 2218. Survivors include his wife, Bertha of the home; his sister, Reva Lepley of Manson, his nieces and nephews, Terry McFadden of Wenatchee, Zandra Whittington of Spokane. Cyndi Mackenzie of East Wenatchee, George Lepley of Wenatchee, Bill Lepley of Manson, Mike McMurphy of Arizona, Lynda Loth of Chelan; his step-daughters, Jeanette Cozart of Sequim, Judy Westbrook of Spokane; and cousin, Daisy Grimes of Chelan. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, Rodney Lynn McFadden 1961, Stephen Arthur McFadden 1967, Thomas Frederick McFadden 1972; a brother, Kenneth Leroy McFadden and nephews, Kenneth Garold McFadden, and Doug McMurphy. Services for Marion McFadden will take place Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church with Donn Plew officiating. Interment will follow at Fraternal Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Chelan Valley Lodge #118, F. & A.M. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy/ Guild E. Box 96, Manson, WA 98831; the American Cancer Society, or a favorite charity. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
