Marjorie Lee “Marj” (Richman) Lowe, 88 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society Colonial Villa in Alma. Marj was born September 18, 1926 in Alma, the youngest of four children born to Charles G. and Addie I. (Davis) Calkins. She received her primary education and graduated from Alma High School, with class of 1944. On June 20, 1943, Marge was united in marriage to Mittchel Henry Richman at the Methodist parsonage in Alma. To this union two sons were born: Michael and Tommy. The family made their home in Alma where Marge enjoyed her time raising her sons. She and Mitch owned and operated Richman’s IGA for 20 years in Alma, later selling the business in 1973. In 2000, Mitch preceded Marge in death. Marge was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alma. She loved golfing, bowling and reading. The family also enjoyed boating and fishing. In 2008, Marge was united in marriage to Keith Lowe. Marge and Keith moved to Nevada and lived there for a short time, before Keith passed away. Marge then moved back to Alma. Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Mitch and Keith; son, Tommy at the age of 5 years; and her brothers, Merlin Calkins and wife, Betty and Jerry Calkins and wife, Dorothy. She leaves to mourn her passing; her son: Michael Richman and his wife, Sally of Alma; three grandchildren: John Smith and his wife, Shelley of Gretna, Nebraska, Jeff Richman and his wife, Wanda of Thornton, Colorado and Jenna Smallfoot and her husband, Justin of Kearney; nine great-grandchildren: Connor, Andrew, Lexi, Josh, Hunter, Wyatt, Chase, Cody and Joselyn; brother, Don Calkins and his wife, Mildred of Alma; along with a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Memorial Book Signing washeld on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in Marge’s honor and kindly suggested to Alzheimer’s Association.
