Marlyn Agnes Ackerman was born December 4, 1929 to Peter and Rose (Meyer) Ackerman in Kenaston, ND. She was raised and educated in Kenmare. During high school, she spent her time working at the Kenmare Laundry. She also enjoyed roller skating, ice skating and dancing. Read More	Marlyn Kalmbach-Moericke, 88, Flaxton, ND, passed away at St. Luke’s Care Center in Crosby, ND on Monday, March 26, 2018. Marlyn Agnes Ackerman was born December 4, 1929 to Peter and Rose (Meyer) Ackerman in Kenaston, ND. She was raised and educated in Kenmare. During high school, she spent her time working at the Kenmare Laundry. She also enjoyed roller skating, ice skating and dancing. Marlyn met Marvin Kalmbach after he returned from serving in the US Army. They were married on November 27, 1947 in Kenmare. They started their married life in Wahpeton, then moved to the Kalmbach family farm near Norma. In 1964 they purchased a farm near Flaxton. Through this union thirteen children were born. Marvin passed away June 30, 1968. After Marvin’s death, Marlyn purchased the Longbranch Bar and Steakhouse in Flaxton. She enjoyed the busy social life of operating her own business and the pleasure of welcoming each customer. It was important to her that every person that came through her door, either at work or at her home, felt welcomed. She ALWAYS had time for everyone. Even with her busy work life, she was very involved within her community. Her good work ethics were known by all. Marlyn met Howard Moericke in the early 1980s and they were married January 29, 2007. They enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and canning in the summer months and warm winters in Yuma, AZ. Through the years she enjoyed bowling, playing cards, bingo, and an “occasional” trip to the casino. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She always said, “If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault”. Of course, the coffee was ALWAYS on. But by far, the most important part of her life was her family. Marlyn was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Bowbells. She was an Honorary Member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of Homemakers Club, Community Club,Senior Citizens and the NW Beverage Association. Surviving family includes: Husband, Howard Moericke, Flaxton; Sons, Calvin (Jeannie) Kalmbach, Flaxton, Doug Kalmbach, Flaxton, Rick (Krystal) Kalmbach, Springfield, MO, Jeff (Brenda) Kalmbach, Flaxton, Ron (Tammi) Kalmbach, Lignite, Galen (Rhonda) Kalmbach, Lignite, Lance (Jane) Kalmbach, Kenmare.
