Description	:	Peter Ackerman, 79, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, in his home. Peter Paul Ackerman was born August 4, 1938, the son of Peter and Rose (Meyer) Ackerman, in Kenmare, ND. He was raised and educated in Kenmare and attended St. Agnes Academy. Peter was drafted into the United States Army on April 3, 1957. Peter Paul Ackerman was born August 4, 1938, the son of Peter and Rose (Meyer) Ackerman, in Kenmare, ND. He was raised and educated in Kenmare and attended St. Agnes Academy. Peter was drafted into the United States Army on April 3, 1957. He proudly served his country until being honorably discharged on March 10, 1959. Peter was married to Cheryl Longre on June 30, 1962 and from this union, two daughters were born. The couple would later divorce. Peter married Eleanor Faser on November 24, 1971 in Minot, where they continued to make their home. Following his military discharge, Peter worked for Standard Oil in both Kenmare and Minot. After the flood, he went to work as a mechanic for Minot Public Schools, where he remained until the time of his retirement. Eleanor passed away on December 9, 2002. Peter was a member of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church of Minot and the Minot American Legion. Peter and Eleanor always enjoyed camping at the Mouse River Park, never missing a weekend. Peter had a great sense of humor and told many jokes. He also loved to tinker with many projects. Peter was liked by all who met him. Surviving family includes: Daughters, Sarah Maenza and Paula (Kirk) Olin; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Evan and Elsie; brothers, James (Eleanor) Ackerman and LeRoy (Judy) Ackerman; sister, Darlene Bartuska; brother-in-law, Howard Moericke; sister-in-law, Sally Ackerman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor Ackerman; brothers, Jerome “Bud” (Isabelle) Ackerman, Maurice (Adeline) Ackerman, Alvin Ackerman and Lawrence Ackerman; sisters, Evelyn (Leo) Schmitz, Rachel (Lloyd) Mattern, Shirley (James) Clark and Marlyn Moericke; brother-in-law, Marvin Kalmbach; and sister-in-law, Sharon Ackerman.
