The Jeffersonian Gazette Lawrence, Kansas 18 Apr 1906, Wed Page 5 ____________________________________________________________ In Remembrance of Mrs. Martha Cade Martha Ann Harsh was born near Circleville, Ohio, October 24, 1824; was married to Joseph Cade, February 24, 1839; moved to Illinois in 1846 and to Kansas in 1864, and has lived here ever since. She was the mother of twelve children, eleven of whom are still living. Since the death of her husband which occurred ten years ago, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. L. D. Howard, but the homes of all her children were gladdened by her presence for a kinder, gentler mother never lived. She united with the Christian church in her early youth, and was faithful unto the end, so that her children do not mourn, as they who have no hope, for they know that she was ready and willing to answer the summons of her Master, who said to her "Be thou faithful and I will give thee a crown of life."
