Description	:	Funeral services were held from Wolfe’s Funeral Home Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Ira Alford, 58, who died Wednesday evening, April 24, at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. The Rev. E. M. Bueller was in charge of the final rites. Pall bearers were Fred Bridewell, Arthur Selley, Earl Means, Harry Raney, Fred Lamkin, and John Baker. Martha Caroline Enarson, daughter of Lars and Ingeborg Enarson, was born February 3, 1882 on a farm 5 miles northwest of Villisca in the Arlington neighborhood. She was the youngest of a family of eight children. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister and brother in infancy, a sister, Mary at the age of 3, a brother, Ed in 1920, and a brother, John in 1937. She lived her entire life in or near Villisca. She was was a member of the Arlington Methodist Church, her membership later being transferred to the Villisca Methodist Church and she was a faithful worker in the Arlington Aid society. She was united in marriage to Ira Alford December 9, 1927. Surviving are her husband and a stepson, Lee Alford of Corning, three brothers, Henry, Louis, and Martin Enarson all of Villisca. Attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hershberg and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hamm, all of Peoria, Illinois. Villisca Review, May 2, 1940, page 4 Mr. and Mrs. Lee Alford had word Wednesday night, May 1, 1940 of the death of Mr. Alford's step-mother, Mrs. Ira Alford of Villisca. Mrs. Alford died in an Omaha hospital following an operation which was the third operation she had undergone in an effort to save her life. Funeral services were held Sunday at Villisca and attended by Mr. and Mrs. Lee Alford and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn VanAlstine of Corning. Martha C. Enarson was born in 1881 in Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa to Lars Enarson and Ingeborg Hawkins. She married Ira J. Alford on December 9,1917 in Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa.
