Quakenbush): DEATHS AND FUNERALS --------------------------------- Mrs. Martha Wright Dead. Mrs. Martha Wright, an old settler in Lyon county who lived 2 1/2 miles east of Emporia, died at the age of 90 at 12:30 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Newman Memorial County hospital. Mrs. Wright's maiden name was Miss Martha Hite. She was born in Rolington, Ky., February 3, 1836, and moved with her parents when she was 3 years old to Indiana. She was married to James Wilhite in Mooresville, Ind., in 1854. Mr. and Mrs. Wilhite came to Kansas and settled in the Fowler neighborhood southeast of Emporia in 1857. Mr. Wilhite died in 1854 and a year later, Mrs. Wilhite was married to Joel Wright. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Christian church. She is survived by Mr. Wright and three sons and daughters; A. A. Wilhite, and Mrs. Mary Kidwell, of Kansas City, Kan./ and Henry E. Wilhite, of Kansas City, Mo. One sister, Mrs. Mary Fonville, of Danville, Ind., and two brothers, Henry E. Hite and Sanford Hite, of Mooresville, Ind., also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Wright, who lived 2 1/2 miles east of Emporia and died early Tuesday morning in the Newman Memorial County hospital, were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock in the First Christian church. Rev. D. F. Cross, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Wilhite cemetery. Miss Myrtle Gollehon and Mrs. Tom Price sang, accompanied by Miss Beulah Weyler. The pallbearers were: Frank Gray, Park L. Morse, John Maresh, E. G. Schaffner, W. P. Stanley, and O. C. Rickerd.
