Wilhite, and the late Mrs. Fishback, died at his home about two miles southeast of this city, Sunday morning. On retiring Saturday evening he appeared to be in usual health, but not long after midnight, on arising from bed, he fell on his face, and when found by the family had expired, probably from some internal blood vessel lesion. Wilhite, a brother of A.G. and John E. Wilhite, and the late Mrs. Fishback, died at his home about two miles southeast of this city, Sunday morning. On retiring Saturday evening he appeared to be in usual health, but not long after midnight, on arising from bed, he fell on his face, and when found by the family had expired, probably from some internal blood vessel lesion. The deceased was born in Kentucky in August, 1833, and while an infant removed with his parents to Indiana. In 1858 he came to Kansas, marrying about this time Miss Martha J. Hite, who, with several children, now mourn the loss of a kind, Christian husband, and father. The funeral was held at the Fowler chapel Monday morning at 11 o'clock, Mr. Harveout, of the Christian church, leading in the services, after which the remains were interred in the family cemetery just east of the chapel. ************************************************************************************************ Emporia Daily Globe, Saturday, Monday, November 22, 1886; p. 4 , c. 2 Died. James W. Wilhite, aged about 50 years, died suddenly Sunday morning at his residence southeast of the city. the cause of his death is supposed to have been apoplexy. He had not been sick or complaining. Just before his death he was about to arise from his bed when he fell back and died immediately. He leaves a wife and five children. the deceased has long been a resident of this community, and was an honored and respected citizen, He was a member of the Christian church. The funeral services were held this morning, the remains being interred in Fowler cemetery.
