When a young woman, she with her parents moved to Edgar county, Ill. There she became acquainted with L.D. Clinton, to whom she was married Feb. 4, 1869. In the spring of 1877 with their family of three small children, they came to Kansas and located on a homestead in Saline county. A few years later they moved to Ottawa county, near Tescott. Their home was headquarters for the pioneer circuit riders, and many a traveler was made welcome and given a good meal. They raised a large family of children, six of whom - Mrs. Grant Crawford, Mrs. A.J. Raplee, Mrs. Daniel Giersch, Mrs. L.W. Neaderhiser, C.L. Clinton and Elmer Clinton, survive their mother and were with her during her last illness. In their later life, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton moved to Tescott, where they lived until a year ago last November when they gave up their home in town, and went to live with their daughter Elsie, on the old home place. In October, 1921, her husband passed away after a very short illness. Since then she has been very lonely and has felt her loss more than any one knew. Mrs. Clinton united with the Christian church at an early age and lived a good Christian life. She was a good neighbor, a kind friend and a loving wife and mother. We would not call her back, for we feel sure she has gone to a better home. Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Tescott, Feb. 28, conducted by R.C. Harding of Salina, and the remains were laid to rest in the Franklin cemetery. [Better Way, Minneapolis, Ottawa County, Kansas, March 16, 1922, page 8] ===== Misc Newspaper Clippings 1.) Tescott -- Frank McGavran, of Iowa, is visiting his uncle, L.D. Clinton, of this place, this week. [Minneapolis (Ottawa County, Kansas) Messenger, April 28, 1904, p. 3] 2.) Tescott -- Thursday, Feb. 4th, being the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Clinton, a number of the neighbors and friends gathered in and gave them a surprise. Everyone enjoyed themselves as everyone always does at their home. Some one suggested that we entertain ourselves as we did in our younger days, by rolling a pan and calling a number, the one having the number to catch it before it reached the floor. We will not tell the times we found the floor too high for us. We had refreshments and then Mr. Park presented Mr. and Mrs. Clinton with a beautiful rug which had been purchased by the guests, after which we had a number of beautiful songs and Bro.
