Description	:	Although her death certificate lists her father as Calvin Stephenson, it's almost certain that Martha Jane is the oldest child of William Calvin and Lively (Harber) Stephenson. She is with the family in the Censuses of 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. She married relatively late at age 31, becoming the fourth wife of Harris Noblin Mount on Jan. 22, 1881. According to Mount family history, Harris wore the same broadcloth suit to each wedding and later was buried in it, though he bought a new pocket watch for each marriage. "She never had her picture made," said Ann Mount Stanley, Martha's great granddaughter, by phone in December 2008. "She thought she was big. I had an aunt say three Stephensons together was 1,000 pounds." Harris, who served the 6th Division, 16th Army Corps at Fort Pillow, Tenn., during the Civil War, had established a 100-acre family farm in 1860 in what then was Dyer County and later became part of Crockett County, which formed in 1871. Under his ownership, cotton, corn and hay were cultivated. He and Martha had at least two children, Henry Winchester Mount (b. October 7, 1882; d. July 1965) and Harris Marshall Mount (b. March 2, 1884; d. November 1962). After her husband died in 1896, Martha ran the farm with the help of her sons. Henry Mount, known as "Chester," took ownership of the family farm in 1912. The farm remains in the Mount family and in 2007 became the 17th Crockett County farm to be certified as a Tennessee Century Farm through a program that recognizes the contributions of Tennessee residents who have continuously owned, and kept in production, family land for at least 100 years. Martha and her husband Harris are buried at Floyd's Chapel Cemetery in Crockett County.
