She would have been 72 years of age the 27th of this month. From the time of her marriage to Cool F. Blake, November 18, 1908, she resided at the Blake family home east of Glasco. She is survived by a brother, Otis Hardesty of Minneapolis; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Davis of Concordia; four sons, Fenton W. of Delphos; Robert J. of Greensburg; Leslie M. of Wichita; and Bryce H. of Minneapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Hilary Wentz of Concordia; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ella Blake of Salina; and 26 grandchildren. Her husband, a son, Herbert E., five sisters, and a granddaughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Blake lived a full and rewarding life of service. In addition to her own family, she made a home, at various times, for Grandmother Minnie Blake, three of her sisters, and seven of her grandchildren. The passing of Mrs. Blake marks the passing of an institution, for Mrs. Blake and the family home were a social institution which has served nearly half a hundred of the immediate family plus a host of other relatives and a vast number of friends residing in nearly every state in the union. In addition to the large family gatherings which were her great joy, she was a prolific correspondent who kept the family and widely scattered friends informed and provided a cohesive unity. She was always a friend of the shut-in, maintaining regular contact by telephone, and was seldom known to visit without a gift of fruit, candy, cookies, or other fruits of her labor. Indeed, her large family, and the community, have lost a real friend. Funeral services were held at the Glasco Methodist Church, Saturday, February 22, 1958, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. John Baker officiating. Music was by Ronald King, Lester Pilcher, Louis Cool, and Leon Amberg, with Mrs. Robert Teasley accompanying at the organ. Casket bearers were Louis Cool, Joe Cool, Herman Bates, Otis Hensley, Ronald King, and Noel Sawhill. Flowers were cared for by Merle Hensley. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with Haley Funeral Home in charge.
