DECKER CALLED HOME Martha Priscella (sic) Everette was born August 20, 1854 at Springfield Edgar County, Illinois, and died at her home in Wauneta, July 14, 1923 at three a.m., age 68 years, 10 months and 38 days (sic), On January 14, 1873 she was united in marriage to James I. Decker. To this union nine children were born, three of whom proceeded their mother to the higher life beyond; Bertha L., Ernest O. and Delaware T. Decker. The six living children are: Minnie A. Barnes, of Wauneta, Mary E. Cochran, Traer, Kansas; Ira F., Chester G., Walter E. and Elsie Decker wife of Delaware T. all of Wauneta. She is also survived by 26 living grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her husband and children were all with her during her last illness and administered all the help loving hands could render, but it was God's will to call this loved one to his home and nothing that medical aid and kind help could do would save her. During her last few hours she expressed the thought that she was ready and willing to go. During the early part of her married life their home was in Mound City MO., a short period in Iowa and in the spring of 1881 the came to Pawnee City, Nebraska and four years later to Oberlin, Kansas, where they made their home and spent the larger part of their life, until retiring and moving to their present home in Wauneta in 1920. Mrs. Decker joined the Baptist church while a young woman in Kansas, later transferring her letter to the Methodist at Traer, Kansas, to which church she has been a member for the past 20 years always faithful to her God. Ill health has kept her confined to her home more of less the past few years and she has always been a kind inspiration to those who came in contact with her. On January 14, 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Decker celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at their home in Wauneta. The children were all present. Those who are here to attend the funeral besides the immediate family are: Mrs. Elsie Decker, Orleans, Nebr.; Mrs. W. H. Walton, a niece of Beardsley, Ill., Mr. Decker's brother, Lon Decker and wife, Oberlin Kansas; a niece Mrs. Will Uehlin (sic) and husband of Oberlin, Mrs. Ernest Decker a niece and Mrs. Regennitter, a niece of Stratton. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the M.E. church at Wauneta. The Rev. Swanson of Imperial officiating. Mother is Mary P. (Eaton), b. ~1819 TN (?)
