Bennyworth, 51, 318 Circle Drive, to commit suicide shortly after breakfast yesterday morning. Coroner D. G. Heckman learned at Wesley hospital yesterday that Mr. Bennyworth apparently died from drinking a quantity of lysol. However, members of the family, although saying he had died from poisoning, said also they were in possession of no definite facts to indicate how he carried out his desperate venture. Mr. Bennyworth had been a traveling representitive of the Peck & Hill Furniture company. He was formerly in business for himself and was well known in Wichita after 10 years of residence here. Yesterday morning when he came down for breakfast he seemed in fairly good spirits. He gave no hint of suicidal intent, but shortly after breakfast retired to his room. Fifteen minutes later Mrs. Bennyworth found him there, mortally ill. She called a Lahey and Martin ambulance, but Mr. Bennyworth died on the way to Wesley hospital. It was about two weeks ago that Mr. Bennyworth became ill, but his illness was not thought to be serious. It is believed he brooded over his condition and possibly over financial affairs, although his family believes the latter are in good order. According to the family members, he left no note or word in explanation. The decision, they believe, was suddenly reached. It was some time before the suicide question was injected into the death. Police yesterday did not investigate and the coroner investigated only to the extent of asking questions at the hospital. That officials will question the relatives today, he indicated last night, and is delaying a decision as to an inquest until the family interview has been held. Mr. Bennyworth was born in Larned. He is survived by his wife, Edna; his mother, Mrs. Martin Bennyworth; a son Martin III; one brother, Frank of Los Angeles; three sisters, Mrs. S. E. Burgess, Larned, Mrs. E. A. Arnsberger, Larned, and Mrs. H. A. Jones, Cherokee, Okla.; and an aunt, Mrs. O. Bardrick, Larned. Funeral services will be held at the Lehey and Martin mortuary Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. A. O. Croft, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church will officiate. The body will be take to Larned for burial.
