West Feed Store and the University of Kansas before becoming employed by Yellow Cab as a driver. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos. He had married and divorced Ellen Whitaker, Sarah Gonce, Ruth Locke, and Theresa Harrell. He married Edna Marie Foster on Apr. 29, 1997, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
