Mrs. Mary A. Betts, age 78 years, widow of the late John Betts, died at her home in Crisfield at an early hour Thursday morning as the result of a paralytic stroke which she suffered on July Fourth. Mrs. Betts had been in declining health since the death of her husband about three years ago. The deceased was a daughter of the late Solomon Bethard and was born near Salisbury. Married to Mr. Betts at the age of 19, she moved to the Cash Corner section with her husband a short while later and has since resided in this community. She had been a consistent member of Mariners M. P. Church for more than 50 years. Mrs. Betts is survived by eleven children as follows: Levin H. Betts, Irwin J. Betts, John F. Betts, Chas. J. Betts, Columbus C. Betts, Mrs. N. Ross Byrd, Mrs Cornelia F. Sterling, Mrs. Charles W. Howeth, Mrs. Vincent Bonomo, Mrs. Annie Rawls and Mrs. May Swift. Funeral services will be held from Mariners Church at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. I. S. Owens, assisted by Rev. E. C. Graham, pastor of Mt. Pleasant M. P. Church. The remains will be laid to rest in the family burying ground.
