Born Nov. 8, 1938, in Schleswig, Iowa, Mary Ann Schultz was the daughter of Walter and Velma (Volkmann) Bliesmann. Shew graduated from Schleswig High School in 1957, then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. In 1968, she received her bachelor's degree from Drake University in Des Moines. On Aug. 4, 1961, she was married to Allen P. Schultz at United Church of Christ in Schleswig. The couple made their home in Ida Grove, where she taught school for 38 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She served on the library board for several years and was a member of the church Ladies Stock Club and Horn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She bowled on several bowling leagues and enjoyed crafts, latch hook projects, reading and traveling to Sloan and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed her collection of angels as well as making her delicious taco salad for family and friends. Survivors include a brother and his wife, Wayne and Ina Mae Bliesmann of Schleswig; brothers and sisters-in-law, Les and Pat Schultz of Schleswig, Phyllis and Ted Oschner of Florissant, Colo., Ruth Sherman of Lincoln, Neb., and Kermit Greenstreet of Denison, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen in 2007; her parents; and her parents-in-law.
