He died Saturday, May 21, 1994 at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa at the age of eighty years. Walter was born on a farm in Charter Oak Township where he lived with his parents. Bliesmann was born March 10, 1914, the son of John and Emma Kruse Bliesmann. He died Saturday, May 21, 1994 at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa at the age of eighty years. Walter was born on a farm in Charter Oak Township where he lived with his parents. He was baptized a Christian and later confirmed at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig. He attended a rural school near his home and after completing his education, he farmed with his dad. On August 25, 1937, Walter was united in marriage to Velma Volkmann at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig. The couple settled on the family farm and were blessed with the birth of two children. In 1976, Walter retired from farming but continued to make his home on the farm. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Walter was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who cared for his family with diligence and enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Walter was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Velma of Schleswig; one daughter, Mary Ann Schultz and her husband, Allen of Ida Grove; one son, Wayne and his wife, Ina Mae of Ida Grove; two grandchildren, Christine and Michael Bliesmann and one sister-in-law, Luella Thul of Schleswig. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 1994 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa with Rev. James Schatz officiating the service and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Dorothy Jessen provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Rubie Kastner singing "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were: Tedd Bliesmann, Raymond Baker, Ralph Reincke, Leslie Grell, Bruce Aldag and Larry Abbe. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them for lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge of arrangements.
