Description	:	HISTORY OF MARY ANN BRETZ WAGNER Mary Ann Bretz was born on 14 December 1843, in Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Her father, Samuel, was 33, and her mother, Susan, was 32. She married Adam Wagner on 21 October 1858, in Louisa, Iowa. They had nine children in 15 years. At the age of fourteen she married Adam Wagner, son of Henry E. and Hannah (Martin) Wagner. She married Adam Wagner on 21 October 1858, in Louisa, Iowa. They had nine children in 15 years. At the age of fourteen she married Adam Wagner, son of Henry E. and Hannah (Martin) Wagner. He was born on 20 January 1838 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. They moved to in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa to make a life of their own living on an 85 acer farm. Mary Ann Bretz and Adam Wagner and had the following nine children: 1. John Franklin (Frank) Wagner was born on 5 July1860 in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. Frank remained on the farm with his parents. He married Bertha Lovick on 2 October 1912. They had four children: Jesse W.F. Wagner, Ada Faye Wagner, Russell Wagner, and Noble M. Wagner. Frank died on 19 January 1932. Bertha died 12 August 1967. Their burial is in Lakeview Cemetery in Kenderville, Nobile, Indiana. 2. William Elmer Wagner was born on 23 November 1862 in Inland Twp., Cedar Co., Iowa. William Wagner is presumed to have died very young. 3. Emma Luella Wagner was born on 5 December 1864 in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. She married Milton Coppenhaver before 1900. They adopted a daughter, Bessie (Brafford). She died on 8 November 1920 in Boone, Iowa. Their burial is in East Linwood Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. 4. Katherine Elizabeth (Katie) Wagner was born on 29 June 1867 in Cedar County, Iowa. She married Moses Garber Whitmer on 26 August 1888 in Inland Thp., Cedar, Iowa. He was born on 17 September 1868 in Sugar Creek Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. They had three children: Cyril E. Whitmer, Howard H. Whitmer, and Hazel R. Whitmer (Schneider) Moses, who died on 30 March 1934 in Sugar Creek Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. Katherine died on 19 July 1946 in Cedar County, Iowa. 5. Jesse Elroy Wagner was born on 4 July 1868 in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. He married Margret E. (Maggie) Whitmer on 18 December 1888 in Sugar Creek Thp, Cedar, Iowa. She was born on 12 August 1871 in Sugar Creek Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. They had two children: Forrest Lee Wagner and Albert Earl Wagner. Margret died on 21 March 1892 in Sugar Creek Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. Jesse then married Catherine W. Whitmer (first cousin to Maggie Whitmer and sister to Moses G. Whitmer) on 03 July 1894 in Sugar Creek Thp, Cedar, Iowa. She was born on 22 Sep 1872 in Sugar Creek Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. They had three children: Mary Beulah Wagner (Kerelsen), Minnie Bessie Wagner (Nebergall), Ada Elizabeth Wagner (Eiselstein), She died on 22 January 1924 in Sugar Creek Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. Jesse then married Kate Spaulding on 8 October 1927. This couple had no children. He died on 13 September 1938 in Cedar County, Iowa. He is buried along with his first two wives at the Whitmer Cemetery, Cedar County, Iowa. 6. Minnie Mabel Wagner was born on 24 April 1872 in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. She married William M. (Bill) Port on 11 February 1890 in Iowa. He was born in 1866 in Iowa. Minnie died on 28 Aug 1928 in Muscatine Co., IA. 7. Jeanette Fannie Elizabeth Augusta Wagner (nicknamed Nettie) was born on 29 September 1875, in Inland. She married Edwin Clarence Marquart 20 December 1894 in Boone, IA, and they had four children together. Their first child was born on 16 October 1895 and died 21 October 1895 at the age of 5 days; Their second child was Hilda Faye Marquart, born on 31 March 1899. Their third child was Ortha Violet Viola Marquart, born on 30 June 1904. Their fourth child was Iola Alverta Marquart, born on 21 December 1907. Edwin died on 29 September 1910 in St. Cloud, Sterns County, Minnesota. Nettie married Stephen Douglas Baker on 27 March 1912, and they had one daughter together, Iva Mae Baker, born 23 November 1915. Nettie died on December 29, 1938, in Tipton, Iowa, at the age of 63, and is buried there. 8. Child, born 4 August 1881 (stillborn) 9. Child, born 18 July 1884 (stillborn) Adam Wagner died at his home on 1 January 1893 in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. Mary (Bretz) Wagner died at home on 25 August 1901 in Inland Thp., Cedar County, Iowa. The couple is buried in Whitmer Cemetery, Cedar County, Iowa. Six children survived them, with 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
