Description	:	Mary Ann Wood, 90, pioneer Chelan business woman died in the local hospital Tuesday morning. She retired in 1956 after operating a shop on Woodin Avenue for more than 45 years. Miss Wood was born May 10, 1868 near Boone, Iowa. Trained as a teacher, she came to Chelan in 1907 with her mother and sister. She retired in 1956 after operating a shop on Woodin Avenue for more than 45 years. Miss Wood was born May 10, 1868 near Boone, Iowa. Trained as a teacher, she came to Chelan in 1907 with her mother and sister. On the week of her arrival, she was offered a job by John Isenhart, then manager of the Ellis-Forde chain store. Later Miss Wood opened her own business in the place where Kier Drug Store now stands. From there she moved her stock to the well-known "Mary Wood Shop". It was in continous operation with the same owner longer than any other establishment in Chelan. Miss Wood was a Golden Star of the order of Eastern Star, becoming a member in 1902. She belonged to the Soroptimist Club and was a member of the Methodist Church since 1884. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, three sisters, and two brothers. The only surviving member is her sister, Miss Sarah Wood, now living at the LaChapelle home. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and their children. Services for Miss Wood are being held this afternoon at 2pm from the Chelan Methodist Church with the Rev. J. J. Ellington officiating. Interment will be in the Fraternal Cemetery, Smith Funeral Home in charge.
