Read More	Died at her home near Geneva, on the 8th, after a brief illness, Mary Ann, wife of S. J. Russell, aged 36 years. She was born in England. She was a member of the Congregational Church for some years before her marriage and after it, ten years since, united with the Baptists. Her Christian life has been exceptionally consistent. Not a society woman, she lived for higher womanly ends, her family and the church. The attendance at her funeral was unusually large. Many of her old friends and neighbors from Exeter and its vicinity, and many new ones mingled their sorrows and sympathies with the afflicted relatives. The services were held in the Baptist Church, her pastor, L. T. Fisher, D.D. preached an appropriate sermon from a most fitting text, “There is but a step between me and death.” A choice floral tribute graced the sad occasion. A large circle of pure white flowers-fit emblem both of a completed life and of immortality—lay on the lid of her casket, while from the floor of the pulpit up to the tops of the stands on each side of it, climbed evergreens of finest texture, entwined with roses and on the stand at the left, amid choice bouquets, was a beautiful floral table, in with the word PEACE, made of tiny flowers pure as white can be. As her pastor said: “The day of her burial will be long remembered.” The sympathies of many friends for the deeply afflicted husband, and the four children, too young to know their great loss, will not soon pass away.
