Moore Annie Hope Moore, youngest daughter of James and Margaret Hope, was born in Westmoreland County, Penn., April 17, 1840, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lee Ruggles, in Birmingham, Iowa, at 9:00 o'clock on the morning of October 21, 1930, aged 90 years, 6 months and 4 days. She was the last survivors of a family of eight children. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1852, and settled on a farm one and one-half miles southeast of Birmingham. She was married to Nathan J. Moore, October 19, 1865, and to this union were born five children, all of whom survive the parents except Loula Moore Johnston, who died May 15, 1897. Those now living are: Mrs. Jennie Vernon, Glendale, Cal.; J. Lloyd Moore, Brawley, Cal.; A. Ray Moore, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Myrtle Ruggles of Birmingham, Iowa. Besides the children to miss the mother are eight grandchildren, Nathan Moore of San Pedro, California; Josephine Moore and Margaret Moore of Los Angeles, Calif.; Vera Vernon and Fay Vernon of Glendale, California; Dorothy Ruggles of San Pedro, California; Annabel and Mildred Ruggles of Birmingham. After the death of her husband, March 3, 1905, she made many trips to California to visit her other children but Birmingham was always Home. She joined the Presbyterian church, the church of her parent, at the age of 13 years, and after her marriage tranferred(sp) her member ship to the Methodist church in Birmingham. She was a regular attendant in the days she was able to go, and never lost interest in church work. She was a kind and loving mother, and was cheerful at all times, ready to greet her relatives and friends with a hand shake and a smile. Truly a good woman has gone to her reward. The funeral service was held at the Lee Ruggles home on Thursday afternoon, the 23rd, at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. F.M. James, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. H.C. Irvine of the Presbyterian church. Appropriate sons were rendered by Mesdames Glenn Williams and Stanley Watts.
