WITT FRIDAY EVENING Had Resided In Akron For Over Thirty Years; Rites Held Tuesday Mrs. Mary Witt, an esteemed resident of Akron vicinity for about sixty years, passed away Friday evening, August 22, 1952, at her home in this city after an illness of about two months. She attained the ripe age of 83 years, 9 months, and 33 days. Mary Caroline Wilheimine Stoehr, daughter of Fred and Dorothea Baba Stoehr, was born October 21, 1868, at Burlington, Wisconsin, where, in early age she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the age of about 15 years she came with her parents and family to Hull, Iowa. It was here that she was united in marriage with Albert Carl Witt on April 12, 1892. Their union was blessed with nine children. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Witt farmed near Le Mars for two years and then moved to a farm east of Akron, where they lived until they retired in 1920 and moved to Akron. Mrs. Witt was preceded in death by her husband on December 17, 1933, and a son, Alfred, who met an accidental death in 1940. Two other children also preceded their parents in death. Mrs. Witt was one of the last remaining charter members of Trinity Lutheran church here, of which she was a faithful attendant, and was also an active member of the Ladies Aid for many years. Left to mourn her departure are three sons, Albert and Reinhold of Akron, and Henry, of Oakville, Wash.; three daughters, Minnie (Mrs. Herman Reemts) and Lorena (Mrs. Jesse Kallsen), of Akron, and Alma (Mrs. John Harms), of Le Mars; on brother, Henry Stoehr, of Huss, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Wm. Sager, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A devoted wife and mother, a kind and helpful friend and neighbor, she was beloved and respected by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:45 p.m., at the Witt home and at 2:00, in Trinity Lutheran church conducted by Rev. J. A. Pannkuk. As a duet, Joan BReitbarth and Mabel Long, sang "My God and I" and "Saved By Grace." Mrs. J A. Pannkuk was organist. The pallbearers grandsons of the deceased were: Louis Frerichs, Duane Witt, Clarence Kallsen, Robert Witt, John Luschen and Marlin Harms. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
