Description	:	Dayton Review August 27, 1896 DIED We mentioned the fact last week that Mrs. Christina Peterson, mother-in-law of C.M. Newstrand, was not expected to recover. She died on Wednesday, August 19th, at 4 o'clock. She was 79 years, 11 months and 1 day old. She was married in 1839 to Peter Blad, and came to America in 1849, and while on the Illinois river he was drowned while attempting to draw a pail of water for her. She came with her company, Andrew Peterson being in charge, and struggled and worked to maintain her family. Of late years... She died on Wednesday, August 19th, at 4 o'clock. She was 79 years, 11 months and 1 day old. She was married in 1839 to Peter Blad, and came to America in 1849, and while on the Illinois river he was drowned while attempting to draw a pail of water for her. She came with her company, Andrew Peterson being in charge, and struggled and worked to maintain her family. Of late years she has made her home with her children. She died at the home of her son-in-law, C.M. Newstrand, leaving four children, William A. and John P. Peterson, Mrs. Matilda Holmes and Mrs. Julia Newstrand, and 26 grandchildren. She was converted at a Methodist camp meeting in 1854 and was for many years a member of that church. She died in the faith. Her old friend Rev. John Linn conducted her funeral, preaching from Romans viii, 18, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed unto us."
