Mealhouse, 36, wife of Vernon Mealhouse, Monroe township farmer, died Wednesday morning in St. Luke's hospital at Cedar Rapids, where she had submitted to an operation a short time before her death. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Henry Mealhouse in Garrison and at 1:30 o'clock in the Garrison M. E. church. The Rev. Whitmore, of LawMoor, Ia., will officiate. Burial will be in the Gnagy cemetery. Mary Christina Mealhouse was born on a Bruce township farm, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Hilmer, May 12, 1901. She was reared in this vicinity and was married in 1920 to Vernon Mealhouse. She was well known in the Dysart community as a kind and loving wife and mother. Surviving beside the husband, are four children, Gale, 16, Verlis, 15, Allen, 13, and Nile Dean, 9; three brothers, Henry of Traer, Eldo of LaPorte City, and John, of Woodward, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Emberton, of Dysart, and Mildred, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Hilmer, of LaPorte City; and a great grandmother, Mrs. Christina Struve, of Garison.
