Description	:	Mary Converse married Joseph Lapham Chase in 1814 in Connecticut. They had six children. Dorman Latin, James Elijah, John Willard, and Caroline Mercy, who where born in Kent County, Connecticut, and then Tamson, and Maryett, who were born in Canada. In 1828, they moved from Connecticut to "Canada West", which is today known as Ontario Canada. Joseph and Mary lived with their son, John Willard, and his family, on a farm in the Dereham Township area of Oxford County, Ontario, for a number of years before Joseph died in 1852. A couple years later, Mary moved to Superior Township, Buchanan County, living with the family of her son, James Elijah Chase. (b.1818) and his wife, Elisabeth A. (Chase) Spragg. About 1858, she moved to Farmersburg, Clayton County, Iowa, living her son John Willard Chase, until her death in June, 1859. The US Census Mortality Schedule of 1860 (reporting deaths in the prior year) reported she died of "Fever". Her gravestone is known by family members to have been quite ornate, but sadly was stolen from the Giard Cemetery many years ago.
