Rottinghaus, died Saturday night at St. Joseph’s hospital, St. Joseph, Mo. after a long painful illness. Elizabeth Rottinghaus was married to Henry J. Osterhaus on April 9, 1918. Her husband was called into military service in the fall and was taken ill with the disease in Camp Dodge. Before she had fully recovered from a light attack of influenza, Mrs. Osterhaus went to Des Moines to nurse her husband. She contracted pneumonia, rallied, suffered a relapse and was confined inthe hospital for several months. After her husband's discharge from the army, they returned home. A little son, Alfred, now 2 years of age, was born to them at their farm near St. Benedict where they spent only a few happy months together. Disease of the spine and hip bone ensued and Mrs. Osterhaus was compelled to go to the hospital for treatment. She was home a little while, then was taken ill again on February 15th last. Throughout her illness, Mrs. Osterhaus was patient and loving. The esteem of her friends was shown in many instances. At one time shewas showered with eighty five cards. Mr. Osterhaus gave up his farm work to be with her during visiting hours. Of her immediate relatives she leaves her husband and little son, her parents, four brothers, Anton, Benedict, John and Ignatius and one sister, Minnie Rottinghaus. She was born at the family home on Turkey Creek, Jan 27, 1897. She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society of St. Mary's church. The funeral services were held at St Marys' church, St. Benedict on Tuesday morning, Rev. Father Gregory O. S. B., reading solemn requiemMass.
