Description	:	Mary Ellen Gray, daughter of Wilson S. and Amanda Brundge Gray, was born in Smith County, Cedar, Kansas and passed away at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital on June 25, 1967, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 6 days. On April 18, 1906, she was married to Pliny Louis Martin and to this union six children were born, four of whom died in infancy. Those who mourn her passing are her daughters, Mrs. Lydia Nissen and husband, Orville, of Roseland and Mrs. Elsie Weber, and husband, Alvin of Franklin; grandchildren, Wayne Nissen of Hubbard, Iowa, Ila Mae Robb, Denver, Colorado, Jenelda Lyon of Athol, Kansas, Myrtis Albers of Blue Hill and Phyllis Stonve of Omaha; 12 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Julia; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Her husband, Pliny preceded her in death July 25, 1953. The family lived on a farm northeast of Franklin moving to the farm home of her daughter, Elsie, from 1933 to 1958, when her health failed and she moved to the Senior Citizens Home in Franklin. Mrs. Martin was baptized and was a member of the Riverton Methodist Church. Her life has been long and useful and she was privileged to see many changes. In her 81 years, she has had her share of joys and sorrows. She was a true wife, always doing her part cheerfully. She attended church when possible and worked with love and unselfish service for her home and family, as well as helping her neighbors. She loved and respected everyone and was loved in return. She was a most patient and cheerful sufferer. Her passing takes away another link from the days of the pioneers.
