Description	:	Pliny Louis Martin, son of Isaac and Melissa Martin, was born in Crawfordville, Washington Co., Iowa June 22,, 1878 and passed away in Smith County Memorial Hospital July 25, 1953. When the deceased was nine years old, the family moved from Iowa to Red Wood Falls, Minn. In the spring of 1887, they came to Nebraska and established a home northeast of Franklin. Read More	Pliny Louis Martin, son of Isaac and Melissa Martin, was born in Crawfordville, Washington Co., Iowa June 22,, 1878 and passed away in Smith County Memorial Hospital July 25, 1953. When the deceased was nine years old, the family moved from Iowa to Red Wood Falls, Minn. In the spring of 1887, they came to Nebraska and established a home northeast of Franklin. He attended rural school and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1900. He was married to Mary Ellen Gray April 18, 1906. To this union six children were born, four of whom passed away in infancy. The family lived on a farm northeast of Franklin moving to the farm home of his daughter, Elsie in 1933, when he was no longer able to farm. However, he helped in many ways around the home as he had the morning of July 20, when he suffered a stroke. He was taken to Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, Kansas where he received the best of care but to no avail. He was brought up in Christian faith, uniting with the Macon Church later transferring to the Franklin Methodist. His faith in the Heavenly Father never faltered even though discouraged and ill. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Ella, two daughters, Elsie Weber of Franklin and Lydia Nissen of Blue Hill; five grandchildren: E.M.F.A. Wayne Nissen of Tuaku Hill, Conn., Myrtis and Phyllis Nissen of Blue Hill, Mrs. Arven Lyon of Athol, Kansas, and Mrs. Ila Mae Jarrett of Smith Center, Kansas; one great granddaughter, Patricia Lynne Jarrett; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Reamsville, Kansas Monday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wm. Brown officiating.
