Of a modest kindly disposition, Mrs. Davis had spent her life quietly in her own home circle, doing the work that was hers to do. She gave willingly of her services to her neighbors and helped others whenever there was an opportunity to do so. Her four daughters and son and a sister were with her at the time of her death. The presence of relatives and long-time friends and the beautiful flowers betokened regard and sympathy. The story of her life follows: Mary Ellen Terrell was born near Unionville, Mo., on September 22, 1868, and departed this life on July 6, 1937, aged 68 years, 9 months and 14 days. She came to this vicinity when only about two years of age and has lived here since. She was united in marriage to Francis V. Davis on November 25, 1890, in Glasco, Kans., and to this union were born six children of whom five are living. They are Don V. Davis, Glasco, Kans.; Mrs. Frances Moreland, Wichita, Kans.; Mrs. Bessie Severe, Gilman City, Mo.; a twin daughter, Jessie died in infancy; Mrs. Lois Hazlett, Lawrence, Kans.; Mrs. Novella Pounds, Glasco, Kans. There are also eleven grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Lillian Frost, Topeka, Kans. A brother, David F. Terrell, Bussey, Iowa. She was baptized into the Christian Church and has cherished that fellowship. She has many friends who mourn her passing. Services were held at the Lott & Stine Funeral Home on Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C.D. Gambriell.
