Description	:	Mrs Mary Kirscher, who would have been 84 years had she lived until February 15th of this year, died at her home at an early hour Wednesday morning after an illness of several months. She had enjoyed a long and useful life and passed away in her own home where she was cared for by her son, William Guy Kirscher and his wife, who lived close by. Read More	Mrs Mary Kirscher, who would have been 84 years had she lived until February 15th of this year, died at her home at an early hour Wednesday morning after an illness of several months. She had enjoyed a long and useful life and passed away in her own home where she was cared for by her son, William Guy Kirscher and his wife, who lived close by. Her last days were filled with happiness made so by the many acts of kindness and visits from her many friends gained over a period of 60 years spent in this community where she was held in the highest esteem. Funeral rites will beheld from the Methodist church Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Ernest Mills officiating assisted by the church choir and burial will be made in the Deep Creek Cemetery beside the remains of her husband. Pall bearers will be C J Lynch, Frank Thompson, Herb Gill, Dan Mahony, Phillip Whaley and Paul Plymale. The story of her life would commence in a foreign country. She was born in the year 1860, in Holding, Denmark and when a young woman was lured to cross the ocean and visit America, and a new frontier in the west. Likewise she made arrangements and in the company with several young women made the crossing and she came on alone to Helena to join her uncle, Andrew Holm, arriving there in 1881 by stage coach. She soon met Joseph Kirscher , who had come as a pioneer in 1864 from Iowa and they were married in the spring of 1883 (May 30), even then before the railroad was completed into this section. They went immediately to their farm home in Canton Valley, and improved by the three Kirscher brothers, Peter, Anthony and Joseph in 1869 and which was later managed by Peter and Joseph from 1873 until 1883 when Peter moved to the upper valley and Joseph took over the management of the Canton Valley farm where he brought his bride. In 1888 they added the Moses Doggett ranch to their holdings making them on of Missouri Valley's large ranches. Two sons were born to the union, Louis Marion, who now lives in Willington CA and William Guy, who resides here. There are 10 grandchildren, five grandsons being in the service. The grandchildren are David, Grover and Harold in the service and Martha and Marilyn, children of Mr and Mrs Louis M Kirscher. Children of Mr and Mrs W G Kirscher are Glenn, PFC, in air operations in the South Pacific, now stationed in Australia; Ralph of Pasco WA, and Joe, Lieutenant pilot in the Army Air Corps at Gunther Field, Alabama; Betty, wife of William Zabel, Seaman 1st Class of the US Coast Guard and Dorothy a student at the University at Missoula. Two great-grandchildren are Carolyn Noreen, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph Kirscher and Sharon Rae, daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Zabel. Mrs Kirscher was a charter member of the Sandlewood Circle, of the Neighbors of Woodcraft, which circle was organized her in 1900. She was the banker at the time of her death, an office she had held since 1929. In 1918 Mr and Mrs Kirscher moved from the farm to Townsend.
