Mr. Barker and brother John, upon receipt of the news that death was imminent, left Villisca on NO. 5 Monday morning for Mrs. Barker’s bedside, but arrived after death had ensued. The body was brought back to Villisca Monday evening and funeral services were held at the home yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock under the ministrations of Rev. T. K. Bunter of Omaha. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Mrs. Barker, the daughter of Mrs. Mary Taylor, who lives near Strand. She was born in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, October 25, 1847. She was married to Asa D. Barker, April 9, 1866 and with her husband moved to Montgomery County, this state, in 1870, where she lived on a farm near Sciola until 1898, at that time moving to Villisca. She united with the Presbyterian Church April 1, 1900. Mrs. Barker was a woman of good health until last July when she first complained of not feeling well. On the fourth of October she took to her bed and never was able to be up again. As a last resort, she was sent to the hospital at Omaha and an operation was made which furnished only temporary relief. She was thought to be improving slightly, but Saturday evening of last week a change for the worse took place and the end came before relatives other than her daughter Frankie could reach her. The funeral services yesterday were attended by a large crowd of people who with many others in this vicinity are extending their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives. Mrs. Barker was a woman of noble instincts and a fine Christian character. She lived and enjoyed the respect and love of her neighbors and died in the faith of Jesus Christ, her Redeemer. She is survived by a husband, mother, two sons, one daughter, four sisters and four brothers. He children are: Fred J. Barker, of Hitchcock, Canada, Will A. Barker of Morton’s Mill, and Miss Frankie Barker, Villisca. Her brothers are John S. and Robert J. Taylor of Estovan, Canada; William and Bruce Taylor of near Strand, Thomas Taylor died several years ago. Her sisters are Mrs. John R.
