McGOWAN CALLED TO ETERNAL REST Died of pneumonia, at her home four miles west of Ulysses, on Wednesday morning, January 29th, 1913, Mrs. Mary McGowan, aged seventy years. Mary Kelly was born in county Leitrine, Ireland, and came to the United States with her parents in 1863. Deceased was married in 1872 to Thomas McGowan, who preceded her to the other world in May, 1911. Six children were born to them, two of whom have passed to the beyond, Hugh, dying in infancy and Susie in September, 1911. The children who live to mourn the departure of a loving mother are: John F. and George T. McGowan, Mrs. Catherine Timoney and Mrs. Maude Moore, all of whom live near Ulysses. Mrs. McGowan also leaves two brothers, Hugh Kelly of Ulysses and Thomas Kelly of Lowanda, Ill., and two sisters, Bridget Kelly of Bloomington, Ill. and Mrs. Catherine Havey of Rosendale, Wis. Of this good woman, whose death came suddenly, it can be said she lived for others. Being thoroughly domestic in her tastes, she was ever an exemplary wife and mother, who, by precept and daily example, instilled into the hearts and minds of her children the beautiful lessons of piety, charity and hospitality. Mrs. McGowan was a devout Catholic, who, at all times, practiced her daily devotion to the Rosary, one of which was placed in her hands after death, a highly prized gift several years ago from the Rev. Father Tourgeon of Center Parish, an old friend, who brought it from the holy land, and who, in the temporary absence of Rev. Father Loughran, celebrated a Requiem mass for the repose of her soul at the church of the Immaculate Conception at Ulysses on Friday morning, January 31st, after whih interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
