Tribby Dies at Her Home East of Town After A Long Illness. Mrs. James W. Tribby died at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday evening of last week at her home just east of town. Her death was due to a complication of diseases and came [after] an illness which continued since last May. Mrs. Tribby was a woman who lived her christianity every day and every hour of her life. Mary Lydia Curnutt, daughter of Calloway and Lydia Curnutt, was born near New Richmond April 26, 1856, and died November 30, 1910, having lived 54 years, 7 months, and 4 days. At the age of seven, soon after her mother's death, she was taken into the home of Dr. and Mrs. George Manners with whom she lived the remainder of her maiden life and by whom she was loved and cherished as an own daughter. On October 4, 1874, she was united in marriage to James W. Tribby who also lived in the Manners home. Here the two have lived with the exception of three years spent a few miles east of New Richmond. Seven children came to this union--three boys and four girls. One son, Willie, died June 26, 1886. The surviving children are Etta B. Archey, Jessie T. Shelly, George C., Emery, Mary and Ruth. Besides the husband and children she leaves two brothers, Henry Curnutt of Nickerson, Kansas, and"John Curnutt of Marysville, Mo., and one sister, Mrs Elosia Clifton of Georgetown, Ill." Mrs. Tribby was taken ill in May of this year. While making a determined fight to live, she was a patient sufferer, and was resigned to give up this life if God so willed. She spoke and acted throughout her sickness in accord with her firm faith in God and eternal life. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for 44 years having united with the same at the age of ten. In her church relations she approached very nearly, if not altogether, to the Christian ideal. The highest ambition of her life was to worthily serve her master and church. Her hospitality has made glad the heart of many a minister of the gospel; her christian life has been an encouragement and example to many a discouraged soul; and her zeal for the Master's business has resulted in the quickening of the pulse of the church at home and in sending from her own family missionaries to the foreign field. Together with her unswerving faith and her constant zeal for the things of God, she possessed a quiet but genial and happy disposition. She had decided convictions on all questions of life but expressed herself in such a cordial and charitable spirit as to retain the friendship of all. Her lovable character, which endeared her to everyone who knew her, found the greatest freedom of expression in her home relations. Here she was the beautiful ideal, the wise councilor, and the delightful and comforting companion and mother. Not alone in her home did she hold sway over the hearts of people and live as a benediction to them, but her influence for good was as extensive as the knowledge of her life. She has fulfilled her mission in the church militant and is now transferred to the church triumphant, but the rich fragrance of her life will continue to sweeten our lives. The funeral service was held in the Methodist Episcopal church at New Richmond, Indiana, on Saturday, December 3, at 1 o'clock p. m., in charge of Rev. Geo. B. Jones, the pastor, assisted by Rev. M. H. Appleby, of Lebanon, Ind., and Rev Wesley F. Clark, of Lafayette, Ind., and Rev. J. M. Williams, of Mulberry, Ind. The body was interred in the New Richmond cemetery."
