Per Mary's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Wayne Cemetery, Rural Riceville, IA. Online condolences may be left at ColonialChapels.com Mary L. Grace, daughter of Earl R. and Virginia (Kristiansen) Grace was born February 10, 1954 in Riceville, Iowa. Mary graduated with the Riceville High School Class of 1972 and continued her education at Wartburg College, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1976. She became a medical technologist after a one year internship at a Waterloo hospital. Mary was employed at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for 16 years before working with a traveling agency taking her from the east to the west coast on assignment. Following her time with the agency, she worked for Kadlec Hospital in Washington State before retiring due to her illness. She was a lifetime member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Her greatest passion was her career, traveling, and her yearly visit to Maui for the Humpback Whales annual birthing migration. She enjoyed piano, motorcycles and time with her family and friends. She will be missed by her lifetime partner of 18 years, Suzanne Schmidt, Mason City; mother, Virginia Grace, Le Roy, MN; sister, Laura (Carroll) Armstrong, Harmony, MN and brother, Doug (Janice) Grace, Rochester, MN; special niece, Mary Beth (Tim) Ostrom and son, Graysen, Harmony, MN; special cousin, Ernie (Karen) Schofield and daughter, Kristian, Riceville, IA along with many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl R. Grace. Mary was thankful for all the care and compassion she received from her health care providers.
