Mary Hochstedler died Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Lone Tree Health Care Center following a brief illness. Mary L. (Miller) Hochstedler was born February 14, 1923 in Yoder, Kansas, the daugther of Abner and Mabel (Schrock) Miller. She grew up in Kansas and was united in marriage to Robert Hochstedler on December 24, 1944 in Iowa City. Mary was a member of Ladies of the Moose, Eagles, and Hills Town and Country Club. She always looked forward to being with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and she loved to quilt, making quilts for all her family. Mary was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan, loved playing cards with friends and family, and her grandkids always looked forward to the cinnamon rolls she made. She enjoyed her winters in Arizona for many years. Survivors include two children and spouses: Jerome "Jerry" (Judy) Hochstedler of Portland, OR, Bonnie (Don) Yeggy of Riverside, IA, seven grandchildren and spouses: Samantha and Steve McCaskey (Portland OR), Stefanie Pagel and friend Roger Whitehead (Portland OR), Neil and Jennifer Hochstedler (Vancouver, WA), Ron and Kristi Yeggy (Riverside, IA), Jerry and Jodi Yeggy (West Branch, IA), Scott and Mandy Yeggy (Riverside, IA), Leslie and Jason Chown (Lone Tree, IA); 20 great grandchildren: Emily, Madelyn and Alisha, Trevor and Brayden, Cohen and Allyson, Chelsea, Dylan and Jake, Skylar, Lanie and Bria, Madison, Ashley, Colton and Kasey, Grady, Cael and Peyton; and one sister in law: Maxine Miller of Kalona, Iowa. Preceding Mary in death were her parents, her husband Robert Hochstedler, an infant son Eugene Robert Hochstedler, two brothers: J. Claude and C. J. Miller, and four sisters: Elta Burkholder, Ruth Eash, Ethel Miller and Odena Hostetler.
