Lucile was born in Waterville, WA to Charles and Alice (Cumbo) Walmer on December 16, 1919. She rode a horse to attend a country school in Twisp. She also attended Winthrop Grade School for three years, then moved to Zillah for a couple of years. She then moved back to Waterville again in 1932. Read More	Wenatchee World - Thursday, June 16, 2011 Lucile Rieve Waterville, WA Lucile Rieve, 91, of Waterville, WA, passed away on June 10, 2011, in Wenatchee. Lucile was born in Waterville, WA to Charles and Alice (Cumbo) Walmer on December 16, 1919. She rode a horse to attend a country school in Twisp. She also attended Winthrop Grade School for three years, then moved to Zillah for a couple of years. She then moved back to Waterville again in 1932. She attended Waterville High School and graduated in 1938. After graduation, she worked in the Waterville Hotel. Mrs. Rieve also worked for Caroline Peters, where she met her husband, George. They were married in Seattle on January 29, 1940. She also worked as a cook for Perkins Cafe; and the Waterville Hospital for several years. She sorted and packed for Auvil Fruit Company for many years. In 1993, she retired at the age of 74. She then started volunteering at the food bank and the Waterville Thrift Store. She enjoyed crocheting many items and won several "Best of Show" for her baby afghans at the Waterville Fair. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years; her parents; step-father; and two of her sisters, Irene Driver and Bessie Sprague. She is survived by her children, Sharon Rieve of Spokane, WA and Roger Rieve of Seattle; one grandchild, Paul Rieve of Florida; sister, Edith Irmer of Waterville, WA; and many nieces and nephews and their children. Special thanks to all the nurses and aides at Colonial Vista who took care of mother. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waterville United Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Waterville Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 17, 2011, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Waterville Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Waterville Ambulance Fund or to the United Lutheran Church (Air Conditioning Fund).
