"Obituary - Mattie Magdalene Meyers, daughter of Samuel and Barbara Meyers, was born in Polk county, Iowa, July 29, 1869, and passed away February 28, 1940, age being 70 years, 6 months and 28 days. On September 12, 1912, she was united in marriage to Ira Klingaman in Omaha, Nebraska. She united with the Church of the Brethren, being baptized in 1908, in which faith she remained till the end. She has been in failing health for many months, and confined to her bed for the last year, with much intense suffering, during which time she has had special prayer and the anointing service. Those left to mourn her passing, besides her husband, are two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Rupp, Mrs. Sanford Gooden; two brothers, Samuel Meyers and Daniel Meyers, all of Maxwell; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Her parents, two sisters and four brothers preceded her. "Crossing the Bar" Sunset and evening star, And one dear call for me, And may there be no moaning at the bar When I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Two full for sound or foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep, turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark, And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark. For though from out our bourne of time and place The flood may bear me far: I hope to see my Pilot face to face, When I have crossed the bar." A short prayer service was held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, during which time a duet, "Good Night and Good Morning," was sung by Mrs. Ray Gooden and Jimmie Beal. Services were held at the Church of the Brethren at 2:30, with Rev. Ralph Quakenbush in charge. A quartet, composed of Mrs. Arthur Hale, Mrs. C. I. Kirk, Charles French and Martin Troup sang, "Home of the Soul, " "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and Jesus Lover of My soul," with Mrs. H. C. Larsen at the piano. The beautiful floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Vivian Battles, and Edith Denton. The pallbearers were Keith Meyers, Fay V. Rupp, Jimmie and Robert Beal, Kenneth and Rollie Meyers. Interment in the Brethren cemetery. Out-of-town relatives and friends in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Harve Faidley, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Faidley, Mr. and Mrs. Fay V. Rupp, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Meyers, Ervin Atkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Loren Atkinson, all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hostetler and Carrie Hostetler, of Colo; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker, Mrs. Clarence Meyers and Jackie and Mrs. L. Meyers, of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Meyers and family and Everett Meyers, of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Eatwell and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Meyers and family, of Farrar. CARD OF THANKS - To all the friends and neighbors, whose sympathy and services were so kindly tendered in our time of bereavement, we desire to extend our sincere thanks.
