Meyers was born at Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, June 21, 1853, and passed away April 27, 1931, at the home of his son, Arlie, near Mingo, aged 77 years, 9 months and 24 days. He was the son of Samuel and Barbara Meyers and moved with his parents to Iowa when 14 years old, and has lived in and near Maxwell most of his life. Urias S. Meyers was born at Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, June 21, 1853, and passed away April 27, 1931, at the home of his son, Arlie, near Mingo, aged 77 years, 9 months and 24 days. He was the son of Samuel and Barbara Meyers and moved with his parents to Iowa when 14 years old, and has lived in and near Maxwell most of his life. December 24, 1879, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kathryn Good, who preceded him in death March 11, 1916. To this union were born 12 children, three of whom preceded them in death. He leaves to mourn his death six daughters, three sons, thirty-three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The daughters are: Mrs. Gertie Bressler, of Maxwell, Calif.; Mrs. Zeletta Mead, of Fairmont, Minn.; Mrs. Bertha Porter, of Ames, Iowa; Mrs. Edna Hennick, of Maxwell, Iowa; Mrs. Orphia Myers, of Colo, Iowa, and Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman, of State Center, Iowa. The sons are: Arlie, of Mingo, Iowa; Sam, of Martelle, Iowa, and Everett, of Maxwell, Iowa. He also leaves three sisters and five brothers, two sisters having preceded him in death. Death followed an illness of four weeks' duration, during which time he was a most patient sufferer. He was taken ill at the home of his son, Sam, at Martelle, while there on a short visit, but on his request he was removed to the home of his son Arlie, where he passed away. He was converted to the Christian faith in early life and was a firm believer until his Master called him Home. Funeral services were held at the Brethren church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, of Nevada, and interment took place in the Brethren cemetery. CARD OF THANKS - Words cannot express our appreciation to those friends who have shared with us the lonely hours by the bedside of our beloved father, Urias S. Meyers.
