Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Mrs. Chelewski was born on Jan. 31, 1921, on the family farm northwest of Ashton, the daughter of Frank X. and Elenora (Slobaszewski) Rewolinksi. She was united in marriage to Edward L. “Eddie” Chelewski on August 22, 1942, in Omaha. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1996. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ralph Oestmann of Andover, KS; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Roselyn Chelewski of Ashton and Mike and Diane Chelewski of Arcadia; and two sisters, Alice Brown of Bellevue and Virgie D'Amico of Vermont. She also leaves to cherish her memory 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 4 step-great-great grandchildren. Mary grew up on the family farm and attended country school. As a young girl she worked at the Fairmont Creamery in Loup City and later moved to Ogallala where she worked as a waitress for two years. She then moved to Omaha and worked as a housekeeper. After she and Eddie were married they lived in Omaha until 1946, when they moved to a farm near Ulysses. In 1947, they moved to a farm east of Arcadia, where the couple farmed for many years. In 1967, she worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant in Grand Island for two years and began working in 1974 for Rose Lane Home in Loup City. She retired from Rose Lane in Feb. 1998 after 23 ½ years. In 2006, she moved to Rose Lane, where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Busy Homemakers Extension Club. Mary enjoyed crocheting, gardening, BINGO, watching Husker football and cooking. Her family loved her fried chicken! She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Eddie, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyllis Janulewicz; and two brothers, Ray and Dennis Rewolinski.
