She was born August 12, 1943, at Freeburg, a daughter of Frank Aloysius and Elizabeth Marie Bexten Welschmeyer. Mary was united in marriage on October 6, 1962, to Fred Wiegers and to this union, three children were born. Mary graduated from Fatima High School, Westphalia, in 1961 and began working at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office in Linn. In the 1970's, she worked at the MFA Coop #281 office in Freeburg, and was a receptionist and secretary for the Missouri Medical Association (lobby group) in Jefferson City, from 1981 until her retirement on August 31, 2005, due to her declining health. Her office colleagues referred to Mary as "the heart of the office staff". A devoted housewife, Mary loved her flowers, reading literature and family gatherings at the Gasconade River. She remembered a good number of her relatives and friends birthdays and anniversaries by mailing cards to them. She has a self-developed, hand-script, which was her writing mark. Those left to mourn the passing of Mary include her husband: Fred Wiegers, of the home in Freeburg; two sons: James F. and wife Penny Wiegers, Westphalia, and John L. Wiegers, Freeburg; one daughter: Janelle and husband, Carl Baclesse, Linn; five brothers: Richard and wife, Lucille Welschmeyer, Leroy Welschmeyer, Bernard and wife Ruth Welschmeyer, all of Freeburg, Jerome and wife Stephanie Welschmeyer, Dixon, and Rev. Joe Welschmeyer, Ballwin; four sisters: Louise and husband Clem Groner, St. Thomas, Janice and husband Danny Plemmons, and Sara Daniel, all of Freeburg, and Joyce and husband Ben Robinson, St. Charles; one brother-in-law: Bob Wiegers, Rich Fountain; three grandchildren: Alora Schulte, Kyra Wiegers and Kolten Wiegers; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father on January 20, 2002; her mother on March 8, 2005; one brother: Stephen James Welschmeyer on December 13, 2005; and one sister, Esther Klebba, in September 1987. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2006, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Rev. Joe Welschmeyer, Holy Infant Catholic Church, Ballwin, celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2006 and 10-11 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2006 in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. Prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2006, also in the church. Memorials are suggested to the Holy Family Church and The American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
