Koll of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wittry at Marshall, Minn., Saturday afternoon, May 18, 1929, at 3:45 o'clock. She became ill Sunday, May 12 when she suffered a slight stroke of paralysis. The two daughters of Carroll and another daughter, Mrs. John Ludwig of Breda, left for Marshall, Wednesday, May 15, and assisted in caring for their mother until her death. The two daughters of Carroll and another daughter, Mrs. John Ludwig of Breda, left for Marshall, Wednesday, May 15, and assisted in caring for their mother until her death. Mrs. Pape's body was brought to Carroll Monday evening, and on Tuesday morning, May 21, funeral services were held at the S.S. Peter and Paul church, this city, Rev. L Schenkelberg officiating. Burial was made In the Catholic cemetery beside her husband, who died In 1915. Mrs. Pape, was Mary Geigor, was born at Wuottenberg, Germany, July 11, 1841. When 5 years old, she came to America with her parents who located In Chicago. She was married to Frank Pape September 6 1880, at Clinton, Ia. They came to Carroll county and were among its first settlers, in the Maple River vicinity. In 1914 Mr. and Mrs. Pape retired from farming and located in Carroll where Mr. Pape died the following year. Surviving are seven children: Mrs P.J. Koll, Carroll; Henry Pape, Sea Fort, Minn.; Mrs. Herbert Thielen, Carroll; Mrs. John Ludwig, Breda; Mrs. John Wittry, Marshall, Minn; John Pape, Vesta, Minn.; Philip Pape, Vesta, Minn. One daughter Sister M. Winifred, of La Crosse Wis., preceded her mother In death. Mrs. Pape was a devout Christian mother, and died fully fortified with the last rites of the Catholic church. Through her illness she was brave and courageous, and was strengthened by her sincere faith in her maker. She was a member of St. Patrick church, Marshall, Minn., and of the Rosary Sodality of the Carroll church at Carroll, Mt. Carmel, and Marshall. Possessed with a pleasing personality and an optimistic nature, Mrs Pape lived a happy, useful life. She raised a splendid family of girls and boys, who are respected members of their various communities. With the exception of Mrs. Wittry of Marshall and Philip Pape ot Vesta, Minn., who were unable to come be cause of illness, all of the children attended the funeral.
