Early in life she declared for Jesus Christ and united with the church. She made Christ her watchword and wherever she lived she united with the denomination that was working in her vicinity and gave it all the help that she could. Read More	Thurs., November 4, 1920 The Advocate-Tribune Indianola, Ia Mary McQuillen was born in Ohio, October 18th, 1846, and passed to her home in glory October 30th, 1920, aged seventy-four years and twelve days. Early in life she declared for Jesus Christ and united with the church. She made Christ her watchword and wherever she lived she united with the denomination that was working in her vicinity and gave it all the help that she could. When she came to live with her daughter in Spring Hill she united with the Methodist church here and attended whenever able. Her last work of love for Spring Hill was a fervent prayer for the unconverted of the community given at the close of the last service she was ever able to attend. April 6, 1863, she and William Romine were united in marriage and raised a family of seven children, three of whom passed to their reward before either Mr. or Mrs. Romine. She came to this neighborhood the day President Grant took the oath of office in 1869 and has lived within a short distance of here ever since with the exception of nine years spent in Nebraska. Never was a more faithful mother, and her children were her reward. She leaves to mourn her loss four children, Clara Hughes of Spring Hill, Charles Romine of New Virginia, Oscar of North Dakota, Edward of Milo, Iowa; twenty-nine grandchildren, a host of friends. Her value to the community can never be estimated for only God knows the worth of a praying woman. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor in the M.E. church. Interment was made in the Webb Cemetery. # # # Thurs., November 18, 1920 Indianola Herald Spring Hill (crowded out last week) – Since our last writing there have been two funerals held in the M.E. church here. George Vance, formerly of this place, died at his home in Austin, Minnesota, and the remains were shipped back here for burial. Grandma Romine, mother of Mrs. D. D. Hughes, passed at the Hughes home, Saturday, October 30. Both were buried at the Webb cemetery.
