SLADEK DEAD The grim reaper came into our community Saturday and left us in sorrow and mourning. Death interred the home of Antone Sladek and claimed his wife and baby. Mary Susanne Wagner was born January 3rd, 1880 on the Wagner homestead near Creighton, she was the third oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Wagner, Sr. one of the oldest and prominent residents of this community and grew to woman hood upon the farm home. She was united in marriage to Anton Sladek January 14, 1913 and they together went to a home he had prepared for her to start up the long hard hill, together they worked and planned the future, and dreamed of the happiness that the little one to come would bring, longing and waiting for that hour, and in that hour of travail, the crisis of every mother, altho the attending physicians put forth effort to save her life and the baby’s, it was without avail, she sacrificed her life upon the altar of motherhood, and no greater tribute can be paid her. She died Jan 10th, 1914. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, the cortege was the largest ever witnesses in this city. At 11 o’clock Requiem High Mass was solemnized, Father Windolph officiating at St Ludger’s church. Her six brothers acted as Pall bearers and laid her and her baby to rest in the Catholic Cemetery. Besides her husband, father and mother, she leaves four sisters and six brothers and here enter acquaintances to mourn her loss. The Liberal extends heartfelt sympathies to all in their hour of sorrow. CARD OF THANKS. We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who kindly assisted us in our recent sad bereavement. She died after a short illness on January 10, 1914 at the age of 34 years and 7 days. She was married to Anton Sladek, January 12, 1913. She leaves besides her husband, four sisters, six brothers and her parents to mourn her death. Her brothers acted as pallbearers. The funeral ws held Tuesday morning at St. Ludgerus church, conducted by Father Windolph. The remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery.
