Mrs. Blazek, a former Elberon resident who lived in Belle Plaine with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Novak, had observed her 92nd birthdate on July 3. Mary Upah, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Upah, was born in 1868 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was one of ten children, all of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Frank Blazek, Norway, Iowa on October 3, 1884. The couple farmed near Chelsea before moving to Elberon, where Mr. Blazek died ten years ago. They had observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1934. After her husband's death Mrs. Blazek made her home in Elberon with the Novaks, who moved to Belle Plaine eight years ago. She has been, ill only a short time and was taken to the Cedar Rapids hospital only four days before her death. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie, who died in infancy. The only survivor in addition to her daughter, Mrs. Novak, is a grandson, Floyd Novak, Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Blazek was a member of the W.S.C.S. of Elberon. The Rev. Milo Smith, pastor of the Elberon church, officiated at service. Singers were Mrs. Charles Upah and Mrs. Eldo Anders, accompanied by Mrs. Byrl Gillespie. Pall bearers were Frank M. Dvorak, Edward Valenta, Fred Ulch, Louis J. Valenta, George White and Otto Ulch.
