Read More	Chris Christensen, 100, Buried Last Monday (From the St. Paul Phonograph) Chris Christensen, St. Paul's oldest resident, died here at the age of 100 early Friday morning, February 9, at the home of a daughter, Miss Maggie Christensen. He had been ill the past six months. (Funeral details followed.) Mr. Christensen was born August 23, 1861 at Viborg, Denmark, a son of Jorgen and Bodil Christensen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Denmark. He came to the United States when he was 26 years of age and settled in Cass County, Nebraska, where he was married to Miss Elsie Salling in February 1888. The couple farmed in Cass County and later in York and Merrick Counties before moving to Sherman County. In 1917 he retired from farming, moving to Loup City. After Mrs. Christensen passed away in 1939, he removed to Polk county, then Greeley County and then to Howard County in 1943, making his home with his daughter, Maggie. A family gathering last Aug. in St. Paul in observance of his 100th birthday anniversary brought together a large number of relatives and friends of the centenarian. Survivors include three daughters, Miss Maggie Christensen at St. Paul, Miss Sofia [? not clear] Christensen, Torrington, Wyoming; and Mrs. Bertha Paulson, Chico, California; four sons, John and Henry at Litchfield; Martin at Palmer, and Christian at Torrington, Wyoming; ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary; one sister, three brothers and three grandchildren. Mr. Christensen was a man who was loyal to his church as long as he could hear and he was most loyal to his country. He enjoyed working with flowers and garden.
