Description	:	Highland Recorder January 29, 1909 Mrs. Matilda Bird, one of the 'Mothers in Israel', died on Monday morning at the home of her son, Mr. G. Anson Bird, near Valley Center. Her maiden name was Wade, and she was the widow of the late George Bird, Esq. Read More	Highland Recorder January 29, 1909 Mrs. Matilda Bird, one of the 'Mothers in Israel', died on Monday morning at the home of her son, Mr. G. Anson Bird, near Valley Center. Her maiden name was Wade, and she was the widow of the late George Bird, Esq. Mrs. Bird was an octogenarian, having reached the age of 87, and was the mother of six children, four sons and two daughters. The four sons are Messrs. G. Anson, David 0., Charles and Harmon Bird. They are all prominent and respected citizens, and all residents of this county except the later, whose home is in Augusta. The daughters are Mrs. 8. B. Rexrode and Mrs. R. W. Lightner, both living in the Valley Center community. Mrs. Bird was a devout, life-long christian, a member of the M. E. Church, South. In the absence of he pastor the funeral services were a charge of Rev. Mr. Moffett, pastor, of Stony Run Presbyterian church. Interment was at Green Hill church.
